Since leaving SPS I turned to Horde primarily.. Garetjax is in a really chilled guild named "Daywatch" - run by ex-SPS members. It feels like home from home! I'm mainly ganking alliance in BGs - after all that's what a Rogue is built for - PvP!! Having a blast and thoroughly enjoying annoying healers .
As for the Alliance toons I have joined another SPS-related guild named "Nocturnal Assassins"; run by one of our ex-members: Scorps. There are a few more ex-SPS here too. Some of you will remember Spew, Schmekl, Grounch and possibly even Throat. NA is a pretty vibrant guild very akin to SPS so I also feel at home here too.
On the real-life front I have a new job based in Newark which looks promising. I'm "upping sticks" from Nottingham this weekend and hope to complete the move within 24 hours of my last shift at PC World (Saturday) and the start of the new job at Newark on Monday morning.... at 6 a.m. . Yeah you read that right.. "Mr. Stay up all night or at least until silly hours of the morning" is having to get out of bed at 4-4:30a.m.
Still.. new waters and all that. The facility at Newark is pretty gobsmacking in it's sheer size, design and complexity. I know a few faces there so it should be relatively easy to fit in. As for the work; I've done what they require for more than 15 years already and have a particular skill-set that will be required in the very near future (e.g. diagnostics).
If you want to take a bird's eye view at where I'll be working then here you go. The building on the right is where the repair workshops are. The repairs include all manner of computing equipment, consoles, TVs, etc. We've just been accepted as an Apple approved repairer too so IPod, IPad, Imac, Macbook.. all to be sorted there as well. We may well get the contract to repair IPhones and other cellphones very shortly too. Some of the specialists go down to component level (i.e. replacing a leaking capacitor on a mainboard).
All in all it's a very exciting time for me and a couple of other friends from what used to be the most highly regarded technical department across all stores - but things change with economics.
I miss most of you very much but if you wish to remain in contact with me then please do so. Battle.net ID is hellblazeruk@hotmail.com.
I'll probably be offline for a week or two until we get VM sorted in the new place but in the best Arnie tradition; "I'll be back".
Take care and huge hugs to the SPS massive.
Catch you on the flip-side.

Glad to here all is going well Stevey-kins!
I've been meaning to ring you lately for a catch up. Hopefully I will get chance in the coming days!
As for early starts, been there and done that! Wouldn't really want to have to do it again now that I have adjusted to 8.30-4.30 but needs must and all that.
I personally still miss your presence here however.
Take care dude.

Cheers for the responses folks - it means a huge amount to me as I consider all of you my extended family.
Just been to the new place for the first time today and it's a decent sized place (3 bed semi) built in the 50's. The neighbours are a mix of retired folks and a few grafters. We actually managed to sight other human beings which is unusual - quiet's not the word! Mind you one of those wore a hoodie! The local shop seemed to have a fair amount of protective mesh though (which is worrying). The walk to work should take about 25-30 mins which is a reduction in travelling time of 50% and a huge saving on taxi bills!
I've managed to pack pretty much everything bar the computers ready for Sunday's move and I'm fairly knackered. I've been looking at cracking WiFi (naughty me) using Backtrack 5 but I think a few days w/o broadband might be advisable .
There's bound to be tons to learn and figure out but overall I'm optimistic that this is the best move I have made in a long time.
Thanks all (whether you posted or not), you mean a lot to me.
Take care and I'll update whenever possible.
/salute.
Steve.
EDIT: Oh and Robster.. you are still a git and I hate you!
EDIT2: The house in question is the one with the northerly pointed "arrowhead" type front garden. |

Nice one!
Regarding "ganking alliance" in PvP ... I do hope that if/when you see an SPSer, ESPECIALLY ME, you "turn a blind eye" ... LOL! As if... |
